Dexatrim is considered the “veteran” of diet pills. Although the name has never changed, the ingredients have changed quite a bit. In 2001, Dexatrim products were recalled because they contained phenylpropanolamine (PPA), an ingredient linked to an increase in stroke risk. In 2002, the FDA recalled all products containing ephedra due to an increased risk of stroke, heart attack, and even death. Since that time, Dexatrim has yet to prove itself as a unique and effective weight loss supplement.
Today, Dexatrim has a few variation, such as Dexatrim Max, Dexatrim Max20 and Dexatrim Natural, each of which has the same basic formula.
