What is the Hollywood Diet?
The Hollywood Diet has little to do with Hollywood and a lot to do with starvation (which, I guess may have something to do with Hollywood after all). Once you’ve detoxed your body by only drinking their juice, they put you on a meal replacement plan and a “Hollywood Mega Miracle 75” multivitamin.
I didn’t make up that name. They did.
Hollywood Diet Claims
“Lose up to 5 pounds in 24 hours and up to 10 pounds in 48 hours.” If you’re wondering about how it’s sort of strange that they simply took one claim, then doubled it, it has to do with the fact that Sunset Health’s original solution, the 48-Hour Miracle Diet was so successful at making buy it, that they thought they’d get even more creative and “launch[ed] a one-day version—the Hollywood 24-Hour Miracle Diet.”
A Short History of the Hollywood Diet
The Hollywood Diet products were originally introduced in December of 1997; as with many “miracle” companies, the founder took a trip and was inspired by what they discovered. In the case of the Hollywood Diet, it wasn’t an exotic trip to the deep recesses of the Amazon rain forest. It was a trip to a European health spa. The creator came back and created what they said was a “health spa in a bottle.”
Is the Hollywood Diet a Bargain?
That would be a resounding no. One bottle (and remember, you’ll need several) costs $11! Even if you buy a bunch at a time, the cheapest you get it at is $9 per bottle (and you’d have to buy 12 of those suckers!). There are many more options out there that will offer you some bang for your buck. If you think the Hollywood diet is right for you, you can find decent deals at Amazon and eBay - but rememeber - you get what you pay for.
Hollywood Diet Overall Conclusion
While periodic detoxification can provide very positive health benefits, it is by no means a long-term weight loss strategy. The Hollywood Diet can best be classified as a fad.
